Teddy bears, flowers and notes adorn a front yard. Above them hangs an angel. Giant candy canes hang from the wooden fence. Icicles and decorative lights grace the formerly festive house - a house where the unthinkable happened. A house where two adults and a boy were murdered and a girl was left for dead.

On March 29 Prince Albert police discovered a grisly scene inside the home at 315 MacArthur Drive. Sandra Henry and Denis Henry, both 56, and Bentlee, 7, were murdered. Kendrah, 5, was clinging to life.

Neighbours say when they heard about the gruesome crime this was the last house they would have thought it occurred.

“That’s the least likely house we would have picked,” said a woman out walking her dog with her husband who didn’t want her name used. “It was always so festive, so cheerful.”

The couple said every season and on special holidays such as Christmas and Easter, the Henry’s would change the decorations on their home and yard.

Likewise, neighbour Calvin McLachlan described the couple as “really, really nice” people.

“They were always cheerful people. They always put up decorations and the house was very festive. It’s pretty sad it happened to sweet people.”

Nathaniel Kenneth Carrier, 28, was arrested March 31 and charged on April 1 with first-degree murder for the deaths of his mother Sandra Henry, 56, father Denis Henry, 56, and son, Bentlee, 7. He is also charged with the attempted murder of his daughter, Kendrah, 5, who was in critical condition in an Edmonton hospital. Charlene Tebbutt, media spokesperson for Prince Albert Police Services, said on April 16 that Kendrah is in stable condition.

According to police, Carrier lived with his parents in the home at 315 MacArthur Drive that the triple homicide occurred.

Police went to the home on Sunday after a family member called them to check on the wellbeing of the family. Inside they found a grisly scene with three dead and a young girl fighting for her life.

Denis Carrier’s vehicle was missing – as was Nathaniel Carrier. On Sunday evening, RCMP informed the Prince Albert Police Service that the missing vehicle was in La Ronge. Police later found Nathaniel Carrier back in Prince Albert, where he was arrested without incident.

Police say the investigation is ongoing but new evidence suggest the homicides occurred on Saturday, March 28.

Carrier was scheduled to appear in court on April 1 but his attendance was waived. He was also scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial court on April 15 and his attendance was waived again.

Carrier is set to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on May 1.
