Trial dates have been set for a previously-convicted sex offender facing new charges.
The trial of Norbert Dumais is to begin March 18, 2013 in Battleford Court of Queen's Bench, and is expected to take two weeks.
He faces charges of sexual assault, uttering threats, possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, and breach of an undertaking. Dumais was arrested last year in Leoville in connection to those charges.
Dumais is the same individual whose presence briefly in the North Battleford community in 2009 prompted a public outcry. Dumais moved to the city after being released from the Bowden Institution in Alberta following a jail sentence for sexual assault of a young girl. He has a long criminal record and is considered a high risk to reoffend.
His presence in the community and location near a school prompted calls for his removal. He soon moved out of the community.
