"It don't matter what you wear or who you are.
Whether you drive a Cadillac or a big old 4x4.
You don't have to own no cattle,
or even ride a horse.
It's all good, at the Edam Cowboy Country Church."
"That's right, y'all. Everyone's welcome to join us and come be a part of a unique gathering with a little different atmosphere and attitude. We're not your typical church as we worship in a relaxed and cordial setting. The cowboy way, so to speak.
There is no dress code to abide by or no standards to live up to. We just want you to feel comfortable in whatever you choose to wear. From cowboy hats to ball caps to fancy hair dos, anything goes. Wranglers, dress pants, dresses or skirts, again, it's all good. Oh and boots, sure thing. You got 'em wear 'em. Whatever your closet holds, is welcome here.
"Coffee's always waiting, even a treat or two.
Got good ole gospel music, and a little country too.
That's the way that we roll, how we worship the Lord,
At the Edam Cowboy Country Church."
Music is a huge part of our gatherings and draws everyone into a down home kind of feel. Local singers and entertainers, The Blue Sky Country Boys, (Frank Ervin and yours truly), provide the bulk of the music with occasional guest performers dropping by. You may even hear a wisecrack or two. You know how old cowboys are. One thing's for certain, we're not afraid of laughter or smiling, and definitely not afraid of crowd participation. It all makes for an awesome evening.
Let's not forget the main reason we come to church. Our pastor will inspire and enlighten all with a short but informative message. Who knows, he might even share some funny stories from his personal experiences.
I know that everyone will truly get a blessing from the camaraderie and the ease that we worship. I say this from my experience in partnering up with the director of the Cowboy Church Network of North America, my good friend from North Carolina, Jeff Smith. We started the cowboy church in the Battlefords and we watched it grow. I saw first hand how people just couldn't praise it enough. It was so fulfilling and rewarding.
So, because of so much interest, and many wants and wishes, we are raising this Cowboy Church here in the wonderful community of Edam.
Our first gathering is Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. We will be holding service in the Legion Hall on Main Street.
"So bring your friends and family and we'll meet you at the door"
Look forward to seeing y'all there!
