According to the latest crime statistics, compiled for North Battleford city hall by staff sergeant Phil Wilson, calls for service stood at 1034, down from 1385 the previous September.

For the year through September, there have been 3831 calls for service, down from 4403 for the same period in 2011.

Overall in 2012, declines for the year continue to be posted in person offences (down 8 percent) business break and enters (down 32 percent), residential break and enters (down 5 percent), criminal code offences (down 10 percent) and liquor acts (down 23 percent). Motor vehicle collisions are also down 30 percent.

The largest increase for the year continues to be seen in the category of drug offences. 323 have been recorded through September 2012 for an 82 percent increase on the year, although it was noted there was a decline for the month of September from 29 down to 24.

In terms of notable crime trends, Wilson's report for September identified increases in drugs and property offences in 2012 as well as an increase in traffic enforcement.

A total of 53 foot patrols were recorded in September, the highest number of any month this year. That brings the total number of foot patrols by Battlefords RCMP for the year to 173. Wilson's report also noted there were numerous vehicle patrols of the downtown core.

Also presented at the meeting were the quarterly statistics covering the third quarter of 2012. According to Wilson's report there has been a decrease in calls for service.
