Big Brothers Big Sisters of Humboldt will soon be given another financial boost as the Cross Country Show Band is getting set for a charity concert, with all proceeds going to BBBS.
The Cross Country Show Band consists of a number of talented musicians, including Kevin Harcourt, who says the audience can expect a clean and not overly loud show.
“We’ve got a very professional stage presence so I think the crowd will have a really good time.”
Harcourt says the show will feature a wide range of country music, including Highway 101, Patti Stewart, and Don Williams, among others and will feature some instrumental sections as well as a variety of up-tempo and slower songs.
“Not only a lot of vocals but harmonies. A lot of it’s three part harmonies so it should be a great show.”
In addition to playing songs that they have rehearsed Harcourt notes that the audience can expect the band to also play one they have not.
“For our own challenge there’s going to be nights where we just pull a song that we’ve never played together before just to show the crowd how versatile the group is… we’re not scared of our stage presence. It’s going to be a very good show.”
The show features a six-piece show band consisting of harmonies, steel guitar, bass, piano, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, a drummer and features four lead singers.
“Everybody over the years has had different bands and we put this together so that everybody has a good time, gets along, and does a very professional show.”
Harcourt noted that the steel guitar player is one of the best in the province and says the drummer is very good as well.
“He’s that good of a drummer that you don’t even notice him on stage he’s not over powering, just adds what he has to.”
The show will be the Cross Country Show Bands’ first as a band, as they just formed last fall, but Harcourt notes that each of the members have at least 25 years of experience, with all having played in a professional setting.
“It’s almost like putting a studio band together, everybody is experienced in their own right and we’ve done rehearsals that I swear that we had done for years.”
There are approximately 200 tickets available for the show, which will take place May 5 at the Bella Vista Inn Banquet Room, with pre-sale tickets available at Pharmasave, Main Street Music and Books, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters office.
Any tickets that do not sell in advance will be available at the door.
All tickets are $15.
