Late May is now likely to be the substantial completion date for both the CUPlex theatre and the aquatic centre.

That is the word from Parks and Recreation Director Keith Anderson in his latest CUPlex construction update at council Monday.

His report to council confirmed that substantial completion dates for three of the four CUPlex components have been pushed back a further couple of weeks.

The substantial completion date for the theatre component is still set for May 25, with the theatre fit-up to follow afterwards. But the completion date for the aquatic centre has been moved back to May 29, according to the report.

According to Anderson, May 29 and 30 are the dates set aside for inspection for substantial completion of the aquatic centre. Final completion, though, is not expected until a few weeks later, with a deficiency review of the aquatic centre scheduled to happen around June 23.

The aquatic centre continues to see progress with tiling throughout the building and at the wade pool. Anderson also noted carpet and flooring was also underway in a number of administration areas.

The completion date of the curling rink is now June 30 "at the very latest," said Anderson. That compares to a June 15 completion date in a previous report. The ice surface area gravel is now completed and the first layer of sand has now been installed there.

As for the field house, the completion date was pushed back another two weeks to Oct. 15, according to Anderson's report. At the moment, installation work is taking place throughout the structure.
