Day of pink activities Wednesday

Wednesday, more than 20,000 people throughout Saskatchewan are participating in Red Cross Day of Pink, according a Red Cross press release.

This day encourages youth and adults to take a united stand against bullying behaviour and encourages us all to make a stronger commitment to making bullying a thing of the past, the release states.

The Red Cross estimates more than 2,000 people in the Battlefords will be in pink and in the release the organization encourages all Battlefords residents to stand up against bullying, stand up for a safe and healthy community.

Official Day of Pink Stickers are available, while supplies last, at the Battlefords and District Co-op. They are $2 each. Proceeds support bullying prevention education.

Bullying awareness activities in North Battleford include a Bready School Day of Pink beginning at 9 a.m. The entire student body at Bready has decorated pink shirts that they will wear to an assembly. At this gathering three Students from NBCHS who are facilitators of Red Cross Bullying Prevention Workshops will lead students in several learning activities. This will be followed by a "walk a mile in my shoes" parade around the block.

NBCHS will stage Harlem Shake at noon in the school cafeteria. Students will be performing a Harlem Shake with a bullying prevention theme.

There will be a barbecue and balloon release at the Battlefords Co-op Aquatic Centre from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Balloon release will be at 2 p.m.
