Aug. 26 at 11:10 p.m., Onion Lake RCMP received numerous complaints of shots being fired near the Onion Lake bus shop on Onion Lake First Nation. Members attended from Onion Lake, St. Walburg, Maidstone, Turtleford and Lloydminster RCMP.
It was determined that a 44-year-old man, believed to be the subject of the complaints received, was alone inside a residence (not his residence) on Onion Lake First Nation with a firearm.
At 3 a.m., a male matching the suspect’s description was observed walking on Chief Taylor Road in the community. At 3:30 a.m. the male was taken into custody outside of a nearby residence without incident after a brief foot chase with members.
No one in the community was physically injured as a result of this incident.
