After calling the Humboldt Mall home since the 1980’s, Diamonds of Detroit has moved into their new home.
Diamonds of Detroit officially unveiled their new space, which is in the old Nutter’s building, to the public at their grand opening on Jan. 27.
Olivia Coffyne, Diamonds of Detroit owner, notes the new space was a perfect fit with their business because of its central location.
“We’ve got lots of space here compared to what we had before and we’ve just completely renovated it to suit our needs.”
Having the business in the downtown also allows for more window shopping, says Coffyne.
“It’s just nice to see people walking down the street and just being in the heart of our city.”
Renovations have been ongoing for the last couple of months, with Coffyne noting they had a lot of work to do.
“We had a couple layers of floors to peel off. We started right down with the walls, gutting them and just totally creating new walls, new space for what was going to work for a jewelry store.”
With Diamonds of Detroit moving into what was essentially a brand new space, Coffyne notes they were able to lay the store out with the customer in mind.
“We wanted to create a unique customized shopping experience.”
With more space and more ability to tailor the store to their customers’ needs, Coffyne notes they were able to make some new additions to their new store, including a new seating area, coupled with a fire place, an events room, as well as a private sales lounge.
“It is just for sitting down, designing items with people or just shopping for engagements in the privacy of our smaller more intimate space,” noted Coffyne of the new sales lounge.
Of course, a lot of work goes into the renovation of a building and the moving of a business, and Coffyne was quick to thank her family, friends and staff for all of their hard work in the lead up to the grand opening.
“The saying goes ‘it takes a village’ it really does take a village to put something like this together and make it what we want.”
Coffyne would like to thank everyone for all of their support over the years, and says she is looking forward to seeing new and existing clients and says she looks forward to an awesome new year.
