Disturbance fireworks, not gunshots

Battlefords RCMP responded to more than 43 incidents between 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1 and 6 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2.

Sunday, Jan. 1

8:40 a.m. - Members were patrolling the St. Laurent Drive area in an attempt to locate a reported impaired driver. Members located a different vehicle with a suspected impaired driver. As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old woman of North Battleford is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation with over .80 blood alcohol content.  The accused was released from custody and will appear in Provincial court at a later date.

6:56 p.m. -  Complaint of three gunshots fired in North Battleford. Members attended and confirmed subjects were lighting off fireworks.

Police responded to 14 calls of alcohol/disturbance related offences, five traffic matters, two Mental Health Act matters and three theft complaints.
