Three physicians have toured through communities served by North Saskatchewan River Municipal Health Holdings over the past several weeks members of the board of directors were informed at a regular meeting in Turtleford Nov. 21.
The visits, organized by Health Holdings and Prairie North Health Region, have resulted in two physicians initiating immigration and assessment processes required for them to work here.
"The board wished to thank CHAN for the excellent program they have provided to showcase our community," a Health Holdings press release states.
The board will continue to work with PNHR in recruitment efforts.
A farewell tea was held for Dr. Mbaogu Oct. 31 at Lady Minto Health Care Centre. Staff, residents, CHAN members and Health Holdings members all related their appreciation for his service.
Health Holdings is also working with PNHR to recruit a nurse practitioner to fill a vacant position.
Dr. Shoaib will be away on holidays until Jan. 9. Health Holdings has secured SMA locums for the week of Nov. 28 to Dec. 12. Otherwise clinic services will be reduced for the monh of December.
"We ask for everyone's patience and understanding as this will be a stressful time for our staff and nurse practitioner," the press release states.
The board also expresses appreciation to Maurille Corbeil for his years of contribution to board as the representative for the RM of Meota No. 468. Dave Code has been appointed as the new representative.
The next meeting of the board is Dec. 19 at RM of Mervin office in Turtleford at 7 p.m.
