The annual meeting of the Cut Knife and District Donors' Choice was held at the town office on March 10.

The 2013 campaign grossed $13,601. This amount is once again lower than last year but even so, the people of the community are to be commended for their generosity.

There were 103 contributors and the average donation for the mailout canvass was $132.05, which is up a tad from last year's average donation of $128.50. It is interesting to note there were six very generous donations of between $500 and $2,000. Two of these were from Innovation Credit Union and the Royal Bank of Canada, both of whom donated $1,000 in support of the charities.

The organization is appreciative of every donation made to the 20 charities. Some of these charities have conveyed their gratitude for this benevolent support. Some of the comments are as follows:

"Through the funds we receive from your community, we are better positioned to help people with arthritis to live better lives through research, programs and services."

"This money will provide funding for research, as well as the support of education, prevention and advocacy programs in our schools and communities throughout the province. It also supports our clients and their families living with cancer."

"Your contribution will enable us to continue providing the programs and support necessary to improve the quality of life of people experiencing mental health problems."

Each contributor can be proud of the difference their donation makes in the lives of many others in the province and country.

Donors' Choice also appreciates the help we get from the following municipalities, businesses, community organizations and volunteers. Special appreciation goes out to Jean Lawes who received, receipted and deposited each and every donation.

Elected to office for the 2014 October campaign were: chair - Lorie Gibson, treasurer - Don McCallum and secretary - Cheryl Rowswell.
