HUMBOLDT — A 41-year-old man from Preeceville has been charged with driving while impaired after a tip from the public.
On June 24 at approximately 1:15 pm, Cst. Geoff Applegate of the Humboldt RCMP said they were dispatched after a report of a suspected impaired driver heading towards the city eastbound on Highway 5.
As a result, police conducted a traffic stop near the junction of Eighth Avenue and Main Street in Humboldt. The driver was taken into custody. Subsequent investigation by the RCMP showed his blood alcohol concentration was over the legal limit of .08 percent.
RCMP said the vehicle was seized and will be impounded for 30 days. The driver’s licence has also been suspended indefinitely.
Nobody has been injured as a result of the incident
“The RCMP would like to thank the public for reporting this impaired driver and taking him off the road,” Applegate said.
