Driver killed in two-vehicle collision

Maidstone RCMP say there has been a fatal two-vehicle collision at the junction of Highway 684 and Highway 303, approximately 20 km north of Waseca and 40 km east of Lloydminster. The collision was reported to RCMP at approximately 2 p.m. Friday.

Maidstone RCMP say there has been a fatal two-vehicle collision at the junction of Highway 684 and Highway 303, approximately 20 km north of Waseca and 40 km east of Lloydminster. The collision was reported to RCMP at approximately 2 p.m. Friday.

Initial investigation indicates that a car was travelling westbound on Hwy 303, crossed the centre line and collided head on with an SUV travelling eastbound. The SUV attempted to avoid the collision.  

An adult male driver and lone occupant of the small car was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 An adult female driver of the SUV and an infant passenger were not injured, but were transported to hospital in Lloydminster as a precaution.
RCMP collision reconstructionist was called to the scene to assist with the investigation. Traffic was restricted and diverted around the collision scene for several hours.

The matter is still under investigation.
