Drugs and weapons charges on Big River First Nation

A 32-year-old woman from Ahtahkakoop First Nation is facing charges after a vehicle stop on Big River First Nation at about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 31. Big River RCMP report the vehicle fled an initial stop attempt, but was stopped again soon afterward.

A 32-year-old woman from Ahtahkakoop First Nation is facing charges after a vehicle stop on Big River First Nation at about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 31.

Big River RCMP report the vehicle fled an initial stop attempt, but was stopped again soon afterward. Three people fled from the vehicle when police approached.

Police say officers located and arrested a woman inside the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, incidental to arrest, a weapon and a quantity of crystal meth were located. The woman was taken into custody. 

The woman is facing Criminal Code weapons and possession of crystal meth charges.

Her next court appearance is March 10 on Big River First Nation.
