Elie Martel of Carlyle was surprised and grateful to learn that he had won $10,000 on the Early Bird draw in BUH Foundation's $100,000 Cash Lottery Sept. 12. "The money will come in handy", Elie declared, "as my wife and I are just in the process of moving."
The Early Bird draw is the first of the four major and 20 consolation draws in BUH Foundation's $100,000 Lottery with the next ticket deadline being 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 for the $10,000 Previous Purchaser's draw.
"The new feature to the Lottery, the 50/50 Add-On, available with your Lottery ticket purchase, is also proving very successful and as of Sept. 12 the winning amount is over $30,000," announced BUH Foundation's Executive Director Claudette McGuire, "and this amount will only climb as we are only about 58 per cent sold out."
Tickets are the same as in previous years at $40 each or three for $100, with only 14,000 available. They can be purchased at BUH Foundation's Office, BUH Foundation's Canteen/Gift Shop, and in the main lobby of BUH. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 306-446 6652 or toll-free 1 888 946 4284 (1 888 WIN 4BUH). All winners' names will be published in the Battlefords News-Optimist, announced on CJNB/Q98/The Rock and CJNS radio stations as well as posted on BUH Foundation's website at www.buhfoundation.com.
The 50/50 Add-Ons are available for one for $10 or three Add-Ons for $25 and can only be purchased in conjunction with $100,000 Cash Lottery tickets.
The $100,000 Cash Lottery is BUH Foundation's largest fundraiser and proceeds from this year's lottery will be used to purchase medical equipment for the ER, Women's Health and Birthing Centre and the Medical Floor. This includes an innovative, safe method of dispensing specific medication for patients, new epidural pumps used to assist mothers during labour and delivery, a vein viewer that aids in prompt intravenous insertions as well as a scanner to diagnose certain bladder disorders and conditions.
