Travellers on Highway 26 in the Turtleford area encountered a detour for several hours late Tuesday and into the early morning hours of Wednesday as emergency crews battled an elevator fire.
Turtleford RCMP say firefighters from Turtleford, St. Walburg and Mervin were called to the blaze at an elevator in Turtleford at about 10:50 p.m.
Smoke from the fire and fire suppression efforts necessitated the blocking of the highway, but the highway was open again at 5 a.m. Wednesday. At that time fire crews were still on the scene.
