RCMP across Canada recently completed a blitz across Canada last month, cracking down on impaired driving.
Driving Enforcement Day was held March 22, 2014, with RCMP setting up check stops at intersections across the country with the goal of reducing the number of impaired drivers on the roads.
The efforts in Saskatchewan saw 3,308 vehicles stopped at check stops, resulting in 56 impaired driving charges and 45 roadside suspensions. A total of 496.5 man hours of targeted enforcement were put in by Saskatchewan RCMP members that date.
The Saskatchewan RCMP says impaired driving enforcement remains a top priority and they remain committed to keeping the roads safe. They encourage anyone who sees someone they believe to be an impaired driver to pull over and call 911, state the location, report the direction the vehicle is travelling, describe the vehicle as best as possible citing colour, make, model and licence plate number, describe what type of driving behaviour is being exhibited and provide a description of the driver if possible.
