A group of concerned individuals in the Battlefords are looking to establish an "enhanced living facility" for the Battlefords' senior community.
Tentatively titled the Snowy Owl Manor, the project is meant for 70 to 100 adults aged 55 and older, According to the current plan, the project would be completed in 2014. The board of the project has already enlisted an architect for the project.
The board has not yet begun fundraising or selling units in the complex, but has been consulting with City Hall about where it should be located.
Currently, the plan calls for the facility to be made up of 600 to 800 square foot single bedroom apartments and 800 to 1,000 square foot two bedroom apartments. All apartments would feature safety and accessibility features, and would be wheelchair and elevator accessible. The facility would also have common rooms, recreational areas, guest rooms and rooms for hairdressers and medical staff. In addition to featuring kitchenettes in every room, the building would also have a commercial kitchen.
Envisioned as a four storey building, the building would have ground-level parking with one stall per suite.
Suites would be available for rental or for life leases, which would have an estimated cost of $180,000 to $240,000.
