A Humboldt Broncos goalie who died in last Friday’s bus collision was misidentified.
Parker Tobin, an 18-year-old goaltender, died in the crash.
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice announced this morning that the identities of Tobin and Xavier Labelle, an 18-year-old defenceman, were confused in the aftermath of the crash.
“Last night it was discovered that two members of the Humboldt Broncos Junior A hockey team had been incorrectly identified as one another,” the justice ministry announced in a press release.
“The Office of the Chief Coroner apologizes for the misidentification and any confusion created by it.”
Tobin was one of 15 who died following a collision between a semi-trailer and the Broncos team bus.
Labelle is still alive. His condition is unknown.
