Some Battleford residents are obviously very conscientious when it comes to doing their part to conserve water. Already this year, calls have been made to Town Hall complaining about people watering on the wrong day.
It shows initiative on the part of concerned citizens, even though the odd/even watering schedule doesn't come into effect until June 1. From that date until Aug. 31, residents are asked to remember odd numbered houses are allowed to water on odd numbered calendar days and even numbered houses are allowed to water on even numbered calendar days.
The odd/even schedule may not be applicable yet, but compost pickup has begun for the spring. Compost pickup day is Monday, unless that day is a statutory holiday, in which case pickup will be Tuesday. Residents are to put grass clippings, garden refuse and leaves directly into the green compost containers. No bags allowed.
