After a number of months of preparation the first stage of expanded transit service is ready to launch in North Battleford.

Effective April 30, the new expanded bus route takes effect for the North Battleford transit system, with stops expanding from 13 up to 60.

The expanded route will cover more of the city and will circle hourly. According to Transit manager Al Love, in a news release, the expanded rout will provide 12-hour service daily from Monday through Friday beginning at 7 a.m. with the last loop beginning at 6 a.m., and with 10 hours of service on Saturdays starting at 8 a.m. with the last loop beginning at 5 p.m. No services are provided on Sundays and holidays.

To meet this ambitious schedule riders as asked to have exact change ready when they board the buses. Fees are $3 for adults or $2 for children under 16. Transit will no longer be stopping at unoccupied stops so riders are asked to be visible when waiting at their stops.

The new routes have been published recently in the News-Optimist and Regional Optimist newspapers and can be found at www.citynb.ca. Handouts including schedules and maps are available at the Battlefords Transit System Office in the Don Ross Centre (445-7796), at City Hall in North Battleford or at the public library.
