There was interest Monday, but no bids submitted in a draw for 39 lots that are part of Phase III of the Fairview Heights subdivision.

As a result, the 39 lots were up for sale as of Tuesday morning, on a first-come first-served basis.

Two local contractors were on hand at the draw to express interest and get more information. However, there wasn't interest from any other bidders after the 1:15 p.m. deadline came and went.

As a result, the contractors decided to hold off on entering the lot draw, opting to wait for the lots to go on sale on the open market. Still, that doesn't mean people aren't interested in purchasing the lots.

"I think there was a lot of interest. We had a lot of phone calls," said Director of Business development Denis Lavertu, who believes building contractors are "surveying their options right now."

It was noted there is an abundance of land coming on the market, with a lot draw coming in Battleford next week and with lots also available in Kildeer Park. There are also lots in Battleford West, noted Lavertu.

The 39 Fairview Heights Phase III lots are situated on Buhler Avenue, Buhler Bay and Buhler Crescent, as well as on a portion of Amos Drive and Clements Drive in North Battleford's north end.

Lavertu called the lot draw part of the process of putting the Fairview lots on the market.

"We went through the process that was required by policy, for us to have the lot draw," said Lavertu.

Lavertu expressed confidence there will be avid of interest in the lots in Fairview and elsewhere.

"I think it's going to be a good year of construction regardless," he said.
