A man is dead following a collision near Paynton Tuesday night.
According to Lloydminster Rural/Maidstone RCMP, a 1968 Chevrolet Impala collided with a 2012 Dodge 5500 flat deck truck hauling a trailer. The collision occurred on Highway No 16 at approximately 9:15 p.m.
According to eyewitnesses, the car was being driven on the wrong lane of the highway with its lights turned off. The Impala was heading westbound in the eastbound lanes.
The driver of the Impala was killed, according to the RCMP.At this time, no names are being released.
The driver of the truck was transported to Battlefords Union Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.No passengers were involved.
Highway 16 was shut down at that location for a considerable time as the RCMP Traffic Analyst was on the scene investigating. Maidstone EMS, Fire/Rescue along with the coroner also attended.
The coroner continueshis investigation into the case and more is expected to come out about the crash.
