Fire caused by boiler malfunction

Emergency crews in North Battleford responded to a fire Thursday night. According to the North Battleford Fire Department they were called to the scene on the 300 block of 114th street a few minutes after 9pm.

According to the North Battleford Fire Department they were called to the scene on the 300 block of 114th street a few minutes after 9pm. 


On arrival they found a malfunction with a water heater had caused a small fire, which was confined to the service room. 


The owner had extinguished the fire with a portable extinguisher prior to arrival.


One fire apparatus and four personnel were on the scene. There was no damage to the structure itself as smoke was confined to the service area.


Fire crews were also called to the scene at a home on Dunning Cres. earlier in the afternoon around 3pm. However, the fire department said that situation turned out to be smouldering drippings from food in the oven, and no damage was done.
