A 78-year-old man drowned Wednesday morning while fishing with a friend on Deserter Lake in the RM of Spiritwood.
Spiritwood RCMP say the man who died fell overboard, simultaneously causing the boat to capsize. The friend managed to swim to the shoreline and call for help.
RCMP say Searches of the lake were immediately conducted by local residents and police officers. His body was recovered from the water.
The deceased was not wearing a life jacket, police say.
The name of the dead man has not been released.
