Five trials set in P.A. for 'Baby Glen'

Glen Frederick Halkett - who police say is known locally as 'Baby Glen' - was considered armed and dangerous when he was wanted by police

PRINCE ALBERT – Five trials have been set in Prince Albert Provincial Court for a man who was wanted by the RCMP.

Glen Frederick Halkett - who police say is known locally as “Baby Glen” - was considered armed and dangerous and was wanted for almost one week before he was captured.

According to RCMP, an armed man approached a car that was pulled over on the side of the road on Little Red River First Nation Aug. 7, 2021, and shot at the driver. Police say there was only one occupant of the car and he ran away uninjured. Halkett then allegedly stole the car and fled.

Police also believe Halkett was involved in an incident on Aug. 11 where a firearm was used to steal a white truck in the R.M. of Buckland. The RCMP located the truck but weren’t able to make it stop.

Police then released Halkett's photo warning the public that they believed he was armed and dangerous.

Five days later, Halkett, from Sturgeon Lake First Nation, was arrested in Prince Albert by the Prince Albert Police Service. PAPS say they received a complaint that a man was trying to break into a parked vehicle on the 100 block of 26 Street West at about 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 16. PAPS then responded to a second report of damage to a vehicle in the 2700 block of Second Avenue West. Police found Halkett nearby and arrested him after he allegedly tried to run from police.

Halkett has five trials on 23 charges from those two incidents and other alleged incidents. His trials in Prince Albert Provincial Court are set for April 4, April 29, May 6, May 30, and May 31.

The charges against him haven’t been proven in court.
