Four die in Saturday crash

Four people are dead following a multiple vehicle crash near the Petrofka Bridge on Highway 12 south of Blaine Lake at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Four people are dead following a multiple vehicle crash near the Petrofka Bridge on Highway 12 south of Blaine Lake at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Dead are cousins Brittany Omani, 19, of Muskeg Lake Cree Nation and Amy Arcand, 21, of Mistawasis First Nation and their 81-year-old grandmother, Lillian Arcand.

Forty-five-year-old Curtis Lafond, from the Mont Nebo area, also died in the crash.

Three other people were injured and were transported to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon for treatment of what RCMP describe as non-life threatening injuries.

The three vehicles involved were a Pontiac Grand Prix, a Honda Civic and a Dodge Voyager Van.

RCMP say alcohol is believed tohave been a factor in this collision, and RCMP arecontinuing their investigation with the assistance offorensic accident reconstructionists.

Traffic was interrupted for a time, with passage limited to one lane.
