Maidstone RCMP are reporting four people were injured in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highways 3 and 17.

The collision took place in the RM of Britannia. Maidstone RCMP, Lloydminster Rescue Squad along with multiple other emergency services were dispatched to the scene at around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The injured individuals — two from each vehicle — were taken to hospital by ambulance. They were all reported in stable condition.

According to the initial investigation, a southbound vehicle was struck by a westbound vehicle. Weather, road conditions and alcohol were not factors.

Traffic was restricted for almost three hours to allow emergency personnel to investigate and to clean up the scene.

A further update was provided Wednesday morning in which the RCMP announced charges were laid.

Charged is Alan Toutsaint, 49, of Prince Albert, with one count of driving without due care and attention and another count of failing to comply with endorsement of driver's licence. Both counts are under the Traffic Safety Act. A court appearance is scheduled for March.
