A four-year-old unsolved homicide is being highlighted by the Saskatoon Historical Case Unit.

The body of Jeanette Chief, 48, of Onion Lake First Nation was discovered June 6, 2007 by a fisherman setting bait traps under a bridge in a rural area about 16 kilometres north of Lloydminster near the small town of Hillmond.

Chief was last seen at around midnight Saturday, June 2 at a local bar in Lloydminster.

In January 2011 a new team of investigators reviewed the case and have been actively investigating the incident. New evidence as well as improvements to forensic sciences has brought forward new information that is assisting in this investigation.

Police say no further details about the investigation or any potential suspect(s) are being released at this time to ensure the integrity of the case.
