An overheated furnace resulted in North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services being called to the Battlefords Family Health Centre at 1192 - 101st Street Sunday at about 11:15 a.m.

According to NBFES, firefighters could detect the odour of plastic burning when they responded to an alarm at the centre. The alarm panel indicated trouble in the main furnace room, and when firefighters investigated they discovered the furnace had overheated and the filters were burned.

There was no other damage and firefighters spent about 35 minutes on the scene while maintenance staff and a plumber were called to rectify the problem.
