HUMBOLDT — Garage sale signs will now have to be posted on two community boards on the east and west ends of town.
The east board is at the Humboldt Co-op C-Store, while the west one is at the Humboldt Co-op Food Store.
The city said it will enforce its rules and remove any garage sale signs on city property – and at busy intersections in particular.
“Further signage will be placed at those intersections advising people to redirect their signage posting to the new signs,” said Penny Lee, the city’s communication manager.
Rob Muench, Humboldt mayor, told council May 27 the new rules will be safer.
“In my mind, too, for somebody that’s putting up signs for a garage sale, it’s much easier to go on your computer and print out an 8.5 by 11 piece of paper and put in on the bulletin board than to go out buying signs and hammering them into the ground.”
