The Geezers on Wheezers visited the Cut Knife area, July 30.

This group of old guys on old bikes consisted of 38 bikers plus a few of their group who decided to ride in a van that day. They came with a purpose, to see Cut Knife Hill and the battlefield on Poundmaker Reserve and also to visit our museum.

It was requested that yours truly would conduct the tour, so I conscripted Walter Pooler and we were set. And no, I did not get to ride a bike.

There were bikes of every kind including several army bikes as well as a bike with a sidecar. The bikers were of various backgrounds and professions such as farmers, lawyers, architects, teachers, etc., and came from many places, including many from Alberta. Shirley Bennett from Biggar was one of the key organizers.

These guests showered us with many compliments and some generous tips. They enjoyed their outing. They were thrilled with the scenery. They appreciated their history lesson regarding the Cut Knife Hill, the Battlefield Hill and they recognized gratefully the worth of their tour through our great Cut Knife Museum. Thanks to Colleen Gugenburger and her museum staff for a job well done.

As hosts and guides, we were elated and would like to thank the Geezers on Wheezers for coming. I would also be somewhat amiss if I didn't thank our friends at Poundmaker for making this part of Saskatchewan's history available to us.
