With the latest snowfall amounts for February so far coming in at 12.7 centimetres the City is reporting better than average ski trails.
Snow pack is good, grooming is smooth and tracks have been set, so all those who are looking to get into the great outdoors will not be disappointed. Classic and skate ski trails are open a:
Finlayson Island South East
Good snow pack, with the fresh snow that has fallen the City of North Battleford has been able to provide a very good groomed surface for skate ski and also a classic ski track.
The inside of the island is open to those wishing to go off trail and create their own skiing adventures. Those inside trails all lead to the groomed sections on the outer ring of the island.
Please do not forget that this side of the island also boasts a picnic shelter, commercial-sized barbecue grills and garbage bins. So if you are looking for a planned event with family, this would be a great place to have a wiener roast or roast some marshmallows. You just have to bring your own wood.
Finlayson Island North West
Good snow pack, trails are groomed and classic ski is available as well as the ability for skiers to go off trail and enjoy the inner parts of the island. All inner trails connect with the outside groomed sections of the trail.
This side of the island is strictly for classic ski as very few skate ski areas are available.
North Shore Trail
Good snow pack, one of our better trails. There was some quad damage in this area however the City of North Battleford's crews have been able to repair it and provide a good packed base with classic ski availability.
If you are looking for a quiet place in a tranquil setting, give this trail a try and enjoy the deer, moose and rabbits that frequent the area. You are nestled right down in the river valley along the creek bed and surrounded by majestic trees and beautiful scenery.
John Paul II
This trail is open for classic ski and skate ski. Conditions are good. There is a good snow pack.
Holy Family Trail
Open for classic ski and skate ski. Conditions are good and this trail offers a good cardio work out with the availability of a larger track and a good-sized hill to climb.
Centennial Park
A good-sized track that starts off just behind the Civic Centre at the main gates to the park and encompasses pretty much the entire park, the Centennial Park trail allows for skate ski and classic ski. This is a great location especially if you are a beginning skier. It is pretty much a flat but scenic ski trail with many places to exit or take a break.
