Grinch turns out to be a turkey

Think of it as the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. In the popular tale, the Grinch, with "all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile" steals the Christmas meal in its entirety, including even the "roast beast.

Residents of Valleyview Tower II experienced something similar with their Christmas meal, after the turkey was stolen from the oven.

Tower 2, which is located at 1191 - 99th St., is home to many tenants who typically stay in their apartments for the holiday season - this year saw 12 residents staying there for Christmas. They often have a Christmas meal together, prepared by Bob Sarrasin, president of the Tower Club. Sarrasin has, in previous years, done all of the work on the turkey and this year was no different.

But this year, the turkey disappeared from the oven suddenly, while it wasn't being watched. Sarrasin was forced to run out and buy a ham for the meal. The bizarre crime had no suspects - the turkey simply disappeared.

Because of his action, the meal proceeded without a hitch. Only the turkey had been stolen, leaving a range of side dishes, salads and so on. Residents are still no nearer to knowing who stole the turkey, but it is clear that whoever stole it did not manage to diminish the building's holiday spirit.
