NIPAWIN — The Nipawin Regional Park is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

“The park, it’s grown and changed over the years, and it has become a destination for many campers in the summer,” said Rhonda Rasmussen, with the Nipawin Regional Park. “It encourages appreciation and use of natural and recreational elements of the park.”

The anniversary is on July 21 and 22, and includes various events and activities.

The activities Saturday and Sunday include a mini-golf tournament, face painting, fun races, scavenger hunt, tie-dye t-shirt making, river cruises, art demos, bannock, archery and a live stage. The live stage begins Saturday at 1 p.m.

“One thing has not changed, and that’s the simple enjoyment of the camping, and the park is here, it’s close to Nipawin,” Rasmussen said.

“People have been coming here for many years, some of them since they were kids themselves. The park’s close to the community, it’s part of the community, it gives back to the community.”

Many of the activities are hosted by local organizations in the Nipawin area.

If attendees dress in a ’60s theme, they have a chance to win a prize.
