The Nipawin Hawks keep piling up the points as they picked up a 2-1 win over the Flin Flon Bombers at home.
The win pushes the Hawks’ points streak to an incredible 29 straight games.
The Hawks wasted little time jumping on the Bombers as Grant Baetsen put the home side in front 1-0 with his 11th goal of the season, just 1:41 into the contest.
The Hawks controlled the play for the most part in the opening period as they scored the lone goal, and outshot the visitors 15-10.
Much like in the first period, the Hawks came out of the gates flying in the second and were rewarded right away as Brett Harasymuk notched his 14th goal of the year to put the Hawks in front 2-0 just 2:01 into the second period.
The Bombers were able to answer before the end of the period however, as Daylan Marchi scored his 11th of the year at 9:36.
Despite having more than 30 minutes of hockey remaining, neither team was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the contest, giving the Hawks the win.
It was a steady, but far from perfect night for the Hawks’ special teams as they finished 0-for-3 with the man advantage, and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
Declan Hobbs picked up the win in the Hawks goal, turning aside 27 of the 28 shots he faced as the Hawks outshot the Bombers 31-28.
The Hawks will now have gone more than three months without a regulation loss as the enjoy a ten day break before returning to action on Feb. 16 for a home matchup against the Humboldt Broncos.
