The City of North Battleford is holding a hazardous waste day for hazardous household items.
It will be held Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Public Works Shop 11112 - 6th Ave. \
Residents are encouraged to drop off items including the following:
Adhesives - contact cement, caulking, sealer, carpet and linoleum adhesives and glue;
Aerosols - hair spray, insect repellent, lubricant spray, furniture cleaner;
Automotive - carburetor cleaners, oil and fuel;
Cleaners - oven cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner, glass cleaner, spot remover, disinfectants, car wax;
Corrosives - drain cleaner, engine degreaser, ammonia, battery acid and sulfuric acid;
Fuels - gasoline, diesel, kerosene, lamp oil and oil/gas mixture;
Mercury – mercury and thermometers;
Oxidizers - chlorine, bleach, pool chemicals, fertilizers, hydrogen peroxide and septic tank chemicals;
Poisons - lawn herbicides, garden chemicals, rat poison, gopher poison and insecticides;
Solvents - paint thinner, acetone, varsol, alcohol, benzene, xylene and naphtha
Not accepted will be paints, electronics, batteries, used oil and propane cylinders, fluorescent bulbs, mercury thermostats and medications. The paints and electronics are accepted by SARCAN, automotive batteries and used oil and propane cylinders go to the waste management facility, and City Hall accepts the cellphone and alkaline batteries and mercury thermostats.
