Hearing set in Meadow Lake court for couple accused of killing Kenneth Merasty

Lucy Annelle Whitecap and Conrad Joseph Jay Merasty are accused of killing Kenneth Merasty

MEADOW LAKE – A preliminary hearing has been set for a couple accused of killing 43-year-old Kenneth Merasty.

On Oct. 18, the attendance of 31-year-old Lucy Annelle Whitecap, of Nipawin, and 31-year-old Conrad Joseph Jay Merasty, of Flying Dust First Nation was waived in Meadow Lake Provincial Court. The court heard that the preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 2022.

Conrad Merasty is charged with second-degree murder and Whitecap is charged with second-degree murder, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and breach of an undertaking.

According to Meadow Lake RCMP, at approximately 9 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2021, they responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence on Deer Street on Flying Dust First Nation. Kenneth Merasty was found suffering from serious injuries and he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The charges against the accused haven’t been proven in court.
