A new date has been chosen for the preliminary hearing for a former home care worker accused of assaulting a 20-year-old victim at a group home for those suffering severe intellectual and physical disabilities.

The preliminary hearing for Ashley Marie Johnson, accused of assault and administering a noxious substance to the individual while working part-time at the care home, had been set for provincial court Jan. 9. Instead, the preliminary hearing has been adjourned and rescheduled to the morning of May 7.

Once again, it will be in provincial court in North Battleford.

The preliminary hearing is in advance of a potential trial in the case. Johnson's counsel made the election of trial in Queen's Bench court by judge alone in July of last year. Johnson had been charged in May.
