City officials say it was a busy Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day Saturday afternoon.
According to a news release, approximately 80 vehicles passed through the North Battleford Public Works Shop to drop off items. Envirotec Services, Inc., was there to collect and properly dispose of the items.
The items included old camera bulbs, an antique fire extinguisher, mercury thermometers and thermostats.
The annual event will be repeated next spring. It is designed to promote awareness of the proper disposal of hazardous materials, materials that are not suitable for depositing in the garbage.
The City reminds residents that used oil can be disposed of at the waste management facility at no charge, and compact fluorescent light bulbs and batteries are accepted at the Department of Public Works and Engineering at City Hall during regular hours, also at no charge. SARCAN accepts old paint and electronics.
