SaskPower advises it will be 18 to 24 hours before electricity is restored to the areas of North Battleford left in the dark after Monday night's storm.

Transmission lines in the North Battleford, Prince Albert and Meadaow Lake areas were severely damaged during the storm, according to SaskPower.

SaskPower gives a similar time estimates for Meadow Lake, with restoration in Prince Albert taking up to 48 hours.

SaskPower reminds all residents to keep safe in the event of a power outage by doing the

following:

If you see a downed power line, assume it's energized and stay well back. Call

SaskPower immediately. If someone is injured, call 911.

Turn off or unplug appliances, computers or electronics. Leave one light switch turned on so you'll know when power has been restored.

Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed. If the power has been out for a long period, be sure to check for signs of spoilage before consuming food.
