HUMBOLDT — The City of Humboldt is encouraging residents to contact the city if they are having difficulty to pay their utility bills as normal due to the pandemic.

At the present time, the city is mailing out utility bills as normal.

“If anybody has any concerns about their ability to pay their entire utility bill on time, they’re encouraged to call city hall and possibly make payment arrangements,” said Joe Day, Humboldt’s city manager.

“We can see what we can do to accommodate them, which may go as far as waiving some penalties in appropriate situations.”

City hall can be reached at 306-682-2525.

Utility payment can be made through their drop box, regular mail, direct withdrawal or online.

Day said that an impact on the payment of property taxes has not been discussed at this time.

“We think it’s really too early to bring that question to council.”

The Town of Nipawin has defered utility bills until Sept. 27 and is cancelling its 2.94 per cent property tax increase for this year.
