The Summer Sizzler parade is making a return this June after two years.

HUMBOLDT — The Summer Sizzler’s annual parade is making a return.

Humboldt council approved the road closures for the parade at its April 25 meeting.

“We're excited to have this event back up and running and we're going to make it big again this year,” Michael Ulriksen, the city’s recreation director, told council.

The parade, being held from 9:30 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, will begin at the post office, head north up Main Street, turn west at 11th Avenue and then south down 16th Street until it hits Sixth Avenue.

The city said sections of the route will be closed off as the parade entries come near and will be reopened upon the completion of the last entry so that the streets in question aren’t closed for the entire parade.

“It’s been two years since we've had a parade and I think it was something that was really missed in the community, so hopefully the organizations and businesses get behind this 100 per cent,” said Coun. Rob Muench.

Parade entries will line up on Fifth Avenue west of the post office.

“I think this is a no brainer,” said Michael Behiel, Humboldt’s mayor. “It's nice to be able to get back out in the public again and it is a long standing tradition in the city. It benefits all ages and we definitely want to continue to promote and push it forward.”
