UPDATE: Highway 17 has now been opened
BACKGROUND: On Oct. 2, at 7 a.m., Maidstone RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17, five miles south of Lloydminster. An eastbound GMC pickup collided with a south bound five-ton commercial box truck. The driver of the GMC truck has been taken to Lloydminster hospital and his condition is unknown at this time. The driver of the five-ton truck is not injured. Traffic is currently being re-routed and the highway will be closed for several hours. Motorists are encouraged to take an alternate route if travelling in this area.
