The name of the victim in connection to a suspicious death incident near Wilkie has been released.
The deceased is Heidi Veit, an educational assistant in Living Sky School Division.
Unity RCMP, the RCMP Major Crime Unit North and the RCMP Emergency Rescue Team had been on the scene of what was described as a "suspicious death" about five kilometers northeast of Wilkie, in the RM of Buffalo.
They were on the scene Tuesday. As of 3:45 pm, the RCMP Emergency Response Team has left the scene, but police said in a news release that the investigation was continuing with Unity RCMP and RCMP Major Crime Unit North in conjunction with multiple support units and the Office of the Chief Coroner.
As of now, no charges have been laid. However, the RCMP has indicated that investigators would like to speak to Wesley John Veit from the RM of Buffalo, who they believe may have information related to the March 27 incident and who was known to the victim.
Police also say anyone who comes into contact with or knows the whereabouts of Wesley John Veit should not approach him, and instead contact police through Unity Detachment (306-228-6300), 310-RCMP or 911. You can report information anonymously through Crime Stoppers: 1-800-222-8477.
The public as well as the media is being asked to stay away from the scene of the incident.
