TISDALE — The Tisdale RCMP has located a Blu-ray player and television that was stolen in a break-and-enter at a Tisdale residence in the central part of town.

The theft occurred on Sept. 7.

The RCMP believes the culprit had broken in through the front door.

“We were able to identify some suspects,” said Cpl. Mike Benjamin, with the Tisdale RCMP.

“Sometimes you get a really good response.”

In the period from Aug. 9 to Sept. 9, the Tisdale RCMP responded to 221 calls for service in the Tisdale area including 22 cases of reported fraud attempts, five complaints under the Mental Health Act, eight impaired driving investigations, six collisions, and six prohibited driver investigations.

“Our stats are up a little bit,” Benjamin said. “We also have an active traffic unit in the area that’s focusing on seat belts, stop signs and speed enforcement— any kind of aggressive driving behavior. They’re very active in the community.”

Benjamin said that one particular message that he wants to get out to the community from this past month's statistics is to pay attention to the frauds.

“The frauds are really peaking; everybody is getting the phone calls. We just got to keep on hammering on that,” he said, pointing out that the real RCMP will not threaten arrest over the telephone, as phony officers often do.

“People need to be cognizant of that and verify everything. Don’t release private information over the phone.”
