It has been a busy year for the Humboldt and District Kinettes and they got to share those efforts with local organizations.
Humboldt Kinettes Vice President Kelly Soderholm says they distributed $12,000 to 11 organizations before their meeting on Sept. 18. This does not include funds that will be going to the Telemiracle broadcast.
“We’re constantly trying to do fundraisers. So when you see us putting on things throughout the year, that money is going into the community.”
That’s what the Kinettes is about, says Soderholm, is bettering the community. While it is nice to get the money through fundraising, she says it is always nice to give it out as well.
“It’s just a full circle.”
Picking the organizations is a pretty simple process with organizations asking for funds for specific projects or the Kinettes themselves seeing the need in the community, says Soderholm.
“We see that they are doing projects or that they lost some funding. Maybe they don’t get certain grants anymore.”
Some funds raised during the year will be going towards Telemiracle, however special fundraising is also done during February and March to raise those specific funds.
