Two Lloydminster individuals who were on the run from police have been arrested in connection to a number of break and enters and vehicle thefts in western Saskatchewan as well as Alberta.
Kenneth Wayne Curtis, 28, has been charged by Maidstone RCMP with 10 counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000; four counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000; four counts of possession of identity documents contrary to section 56.1 of the Criminal Code; and two counts of theft of motor vehicle.
Candice Melissa Harvey, 32, has been charged with nine counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000; four counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000; four counts of possession of identity documents; and two counts of theft of motor vehicle. They were also charged with several offences by the Alberta RCMP.
They were due to appear in provincial court by CCTV on Thursday in Lloydminster.
The two have been linked to several break and enters as well as thefts from Western Saskatchewan as well as East Central Alberta and the Edmonton area.
Saskatchewan RCMP and Alberta RCMP continue to investigate and more charges may be laid as owners of recovered property are located.
Maidstone RCMP along with Lloydminster RCMP entered an apartment complex on 51st Avenue, Lloydminster, Alta. on Feb. 17 to arrest both Curtis and Harvey. But both suspects fled from the apartment with their dog shortly after police arrived.
Over the next several days they were spotted in Western Saskatchewan and Alberta, according to police. Finally, on Feb. 25, the two were arrested by Barrhead RCMP after an incident where they fled in a stolen vehicle.
Maidstone RCMP said they recovered some $215,000 of stolen vehicles, as well as a significant amount of stolen electronics, tools, hobby items, personal identification and antiques during the investigation. In particular, they recovered four pickup trucks, two sport utility vehicles, two cars, one camper, a cube van and a snowmobile trailer.
A Dodge Ram 2500 with Saskatchewan license plate 898JHZ which was stolen from Lashburn, is still missing according to police, and may have a "Scorpion Oilfield Services" decal on its side windows.
