Two local area businesses received province-wide recognition at this weekend's Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence held in Saskatoon.

Winning in the Business of the Year category (under 50 employees) was Table Mountain Regional Park of the Battlefords.

In total, 15 awards were handed out at the awards banquet held at TCU Place. A twelve-person panel selected the 40 finalists from nearly 60 nominations.

Also receiving recognition last Tuesday was Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford. They were one of five businesses receiving the Employer of Choice Award, a title they also received last year.

The Employer of Choice initiative is designed to assist tourism organizations to attract and retain staff.

"It was a true pleasure to honour these impressive industry leaders in front of their peers," said Dr. Lynda Haverstock, President/CEO of Tourism Saskatchewan, in a statement. "Businesses thrive when employees are happy, feel valued, and are provided with opportunities for personal growth and skills development. These Employers of Choice are to be commended for their responsible leadership and positive contributions to Saskatchewan's tourism sector."
